Video Interviews and Photos From Windham World Cup

I was at the Windham World Cup this past weekend, racing, taking a few photos, and getting some awesome video interviews with my favorite pros.

Geoff Kabush:
Geoff Kabush has had a big year in mountain biking; he secured a spot on the Canadian team for the Olympics and scored an eighth place finish at the Windham World Cup in New York this past weekend. Cyclocross Magazine caught up with Kabush after the race while he was cooling down and preparing to ride over to his team’s housing. With his trademark mutton-chops, Kabush manages to look both casual and a touch hilarious. He’s certainly easier to spot on the course! We chatted a bit about the race that he had just finished, but more importantly, we chatted about his Olympic goals and plans for the rest of the summer as well as the upcoming cyclocross season.

Georgia Gould:
Watching the women’s race at the Windham World Cup was heartbreaking for virtually everyone on course. Georgia Gould flatted just before the finish, and her 50-second lead on the second and third place riders (teammates Catharine Pendrel and Katerina Nash), quickly dwindled. In the end, she was nipped at the line and relegated to third place, disappointing fans that were hoping to see their US local take the win. Gould crossed the line and burst into tears, causing spectators, reporters, and fellow racers to all feel a bit choked up. Even as the podium ceremony happened, chants of “Georgia, Georgia!” could be heard in the crowd. Still, as she graciously explained, “That’s bike racing.”

Damn! If I knew you were racing Windham I would have come up with the Dirt Rag crew!
