Training While Sick, Sleep and Sustainability on The Consummate Athlete Podcast

This Q&A episode was a really fun one to do, though it’s never exactly fun being forced to take some off time for illness, which was one of our main topics: Training Sick, Sleep and Sustainability while racing. (I had a bit of experience to share there, as someone who was on a forced rest week the week we recorded the show!) But what I really loved was talking about sustainability and how to be more environmentally friendly while being a racer. It’s a tough one, since loving nature doesn’t equate to treating the environment well, but Peter and I went back and forth on it a bunch and I did some research to come up with the simple things that people could do, even if it they can’t be perfect at it. For me, my 2020 goal is (I know, eye roll) to stay more local when possible and avoid much driving. Which isn’t too crazy for me, since a lot of the time when we get to a place, we don’t do much driving once there. And I am definitely good at wearing out my running shoes before finally putting them out to pasture…
