The 80:20 Guide to Triathlon with Matt Fitzgerald on The Consummate Athlete Podcast

You guys know that I love Matt Fitzgerald’s writing. I’ve been reading his stuff for years and years, and I’m super stoked that in the last couple of years, I’ve gotten to interview him often enough that I think I can consider him to be a friend at this point. At least, it feels like it! Ages ago, he pioneered the 80:20 running concept and wrote the book on it along with Brad Hudson, and finally, he and Dave Warden collaborated to bring the same 80:20 concept to triathlon. The premise is *fairly* simple: most of the time, you should be training at low intensity, punctuated by 20 percent of your work done at high intensity. Of course, triathlon training adds some wrinkles to that, like how you gauge swim intensity, and how you balance all three sports, so it definitely needed a manual. The book comes out in about a week and it’s available for pre-order right now, so listen to the episode, take some notes, and get the book!!
