Tackling Your First Marathon with Caroline Schley on The Consummate Athlete Podcast
Signed up for your first ever Marathon? We talked with Caroline Schley on The Consummate Athlete Podcast about her training—as an athlete but not a distance runner—to prep for this weekend’s NYC marathon (ahh!). It’s a really fun episode because if I’m being honest, it’s been a really long time since I did my first marathon, and I know that because of my years of endurance racing and hanging out with people who just go out and run 30+ miles on the weekend for the heck of it, I can be a little casual about 26.2 sometimes. But honestly, it’s a big freaking deal to do your first, tenth, or hundredth marathon. It’s always hard, it always matters. But it was really great to get Caroline Schley talking about what a first marathon training plan looks like, and what the build-up in the months ahead of the race is like. Caroline is an author, teacher, and total badass (and you can find more about her on her blog here), so it was rad getting to know her a bit better!
