Skills for Fueling + Preventing Saddle Sores During Base on The Consummate Athlete Podcast
This week on the Consummate Athlete Podcast, we got into a couple topics that are near and dear to my heart: saddle sores and how to prevent them during base training when you’re putting in massive hours on the bike, and how to practice the skill of fueling on your bike. (Obviously, I also have books on these topics: Saddle, Sore and Fuel Your Ride, if you want to get even more info.) A lot of these tips might seem obvious: practicing drinking and returning your bottle to the bottle cage while on the trainer, getting out of your chamois and into the shower post-ride, but I’m willing to bet that every person reading this/listening to the episode will hear one tip that they didn’t know or aren’t utilizing right now. If you’re in a base-training phase at the moment, I guarantee you’ll get a ton out of this one!
