Retirement, Zones, Weight Loss and Running while Riding on The Consummate Athlete Podcast

Last week on The Consummate Athlete Podcast, we tackled a few of my favorite questions: Retirement, Zones, Weight Loss, and Running while Riding. The first one, retirement, was interesting—we dive into the difference between healthy and race-ready, and some ways to reframe looking at leaving competitive sport, something that’s super relevant to both Peter and I as we get a bit older and start considering what’s next. (Case in point: I used to be a really serious cyclist, now I’ve shifted to more ultra-running because frankly, it’s a way to compete less frequently, train hard, and do something that my body seems to love. Giving up racing bikes was hard though—not because I loved the racing itself but because I love the people in it.)

Peter and I discuss these questions:
– What to do when you stop competing!? Imposter Syndrome etc. (check the shownotes for links to other relevant episodes!)
– What are my HR Zones, how to set, race maximum vs. training max?
– weight loss – how to drop 5 lbs between now and next season?
– How to run and ride at the same time?

So, give the episode a listen…. And as always, let us know what you think by leaving us a rating or review on iTunes! Those ratings/reviews really do help us book big guests on the show, and as we’re getting into Year 3 of running the podcast, we’re looking even harder at what the future holds for it, so if you’ve found yourself tuning in over the last couple years, please share the love.
