Mental Performance, Focus, Goal Setting, Visualization with Danelle Kabush on the Consummate Athlete Podcast
I’ve interviewed Danelle Kabush a lot over the years, for good reason: she’s a badass cyclist and Xterra triathlete and pro racer in her own right, she’s a PhD-holding expert on sports psychology, and as a busy mom, she knows what it’s like to balance training with real life in the craziest way. So I love talking to her about pretty much everything, but especially sports psychology, which is what we focused on in this week’s Consummate Athlete Podcast. Danelle has some amazing advice when it comes to goal-setting, and we tackle the major issue most athletes face while trying to set their goal: when athletic goals are completely at odds with ‘life goals,’ i.e stuff outside of sport. Which is something I’ve been learning to adjust to A LOT in recent years. (And I’m doing a lot of goal-setting thinking lately, now that Ironman is waaaaaay past over and I need to figure out what’s next for me.)
Anyway, awesome episode for anyone, but especially if you’re sort of trying to figure out where you’re going in sport.
