We’re about to get on a plane to head home, but this visit was so brief I didn’t have a chance to post! After being in Whistler for nine days, we did a quick trip to North Vancouver to stay with friends before flying home.
It’s been a whirlwind of work, seeing old friends and meeting plenty of new ones—plus a lot of running in one day.
Joe Forte’s Seafood and Chop House for happy hour: $5 wine and mix drinks, amazing appetizers from 4-6PM. Oysters weren’t really on the menu this week as West Coast oysters are currently not allowed to be served raw because the water is so warm, but the sweet potato fries with chipotle aoli are so, so f-ing good. Ask to sit on the rooftop terrace if the weather is good: feels like a whole different place! (And isn’t my date a total fox? I think so.)
Earlier in the day, we ran/hiked/scampered up the Grouse Grind, this insane mountain climb just north of the city. It’s insane. Just under 40 of the hardest minutes of your life, where your quads are screaming in pain but there’s another rock to get up, or a flight of sketchy stairs. Then you make it to the top, forget all that, and immediately want to do it again. This time, Peter and I brought along our rad MTB buddy Evan Guthrie for the trek and he had a blast too. All I want to do is improve my time next year!
Oh yeah, and the best part? The fact that there’s a gondola down!
West Vancouver’s Lululemon run club: Even if you’re not a huge fan of Lululemon, if you’re a runner and you love having other women to run with, check out their run club on Monday nights at 6:30. This group of women is freaking amazing. Can’t believe how fun it was to run with so many women: it’s rare I get to hop into women’s running groups but this made me think I need to start searching for more when we’re out adventuring!
