Race Day Nerves, Prep and Timing on the Consummate Athlete Podcast
Last week’s Consummate Athlete Podcast episode was a tough one for me to record—because we were talking all about race day jitters and prep as I was getting ready for my first road race in over seven years! I headed to Killington, Vermont, for the Killington Stage Race with my BikeReg-Share Coffee teammates … and I’m not going to lie, I was a little freaked. I’ve been racing in the last few years, of course, but not on the road—and I haven’t done any racing since last August and Ironman, so I wasn’t totally sure how it was going to go. Even talking about race day jitters had me freaking out by the end of recording! (I saw a few people at the race who told me they listened to it on the drive to Vermont but had to press pause because it was making them too jumpy too. Sorry!!)
The good news, though, is that the advice we talked through, when applied, really does work—and I’m living proof of it! So, if you have race day questions, give this episode a listen—there’s probably something in it that can help you out!
