Why Changing Your Running Stride Is Unnecessary
I love a good study—especially when it backs up something I already believe to be true. Remember that Friends episode where Phoebe goes running with Rachel and Rachel is horrified because Phoebe looks ridiculous? (Watch it here.) I always loved that because her point was great: she’s having fun and enjoys running that way, so why would she change it? But so many of us try to change our running stride, and in very few cases, that might make sense. But for most of us, whatever’s working for us and feels the most natural is the right way. Don’t take my word for it, though: check out the article I wrote about it for MapMyRun, talking to the experts behind the recent study proving that running stride is the most efficient when it’s the most natural—goofy or not.
